Innovative Technology & Equipment

A 3T Wide-Bore MRI with fast scan technology offers a comfortable patient experience with greater precision. The “3T” refers to the strength of the magnetic field, which is twice as powerful as the 1.5T MRI, providing incredibly detailed images of your body’s internal structures. This is particularly beneficial for complex cases, such as detailed brain scans, musculoskeletal imaging, and small lesion detection, where higher resolution is even more important. The wide bore design gives you more space, making the experience much more comfortable, especially for those who feel anxious in confined spaces.

At South Jersey Radiology, our 3T Wide-Bore MRI is equipped with fast scan technology, significantly reducing the time you need to spend in the machine by up to 50%. Shorter scan times mean you can get through the study more quickly and comfortably, while still providing unparalleled imaging detail.

A 1.5T wide bore MRI offers a more comfortable experience for patients while providing high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. The “1.5T” refers to the strength of the magnetic field, which is excellent for capturing detailed images of soft tissues, organs, and joints. This advanced technology is particularly beneficial for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from brain and spinal cord issues to joint injuries and internal organ problems. The wider bore (opening) of the machine gives you up to 20% more space, making it easier to stay relaxed during the scan, especially if you are anxious about tight spaces.

A 128-slice CT scanner represents a significant advancement in medical imaging, providing more detailed and precise images of the inside of your body. This technology captures multiple slices of images quickly, giving your physician a comprehensive view of your organs, tissues, and blood vessels in just seconds. The clarity and detail of these images help in accurately diagnosing various conditions, from detecting tiny tumors to evaluating blood flow in the heart. With its speed and precision, the 128-slice CT scanner can often complete scans more rapidly, reducing the time you need to spend in the machine.

3D mammography, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, offers a more advanced and detailed way to look at breast tissue compared to traditional 2D mammograms. By taking multiple images of the breast from different angles, 3D mammography creates a comprehensive 3D picture, allowing our radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer. This clearer view helps in detecting breast cancer earlier and more accurately, especially in women with dense breast tissue.

Ultrasound imaging, or sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body. This technique is commonly used for monitoring fetal development during pregnancy, examining abdominal and pelvic organs, and assessing blood flow through vessels. Ultrasound is safe, non-invasive, and does not use ionizing radiation. It’s also helpful in guiding minimally invasive procedures, such as needle biopsies, and in diagnosing conditions related to the heart, liver, kidneys, and other organs

Nuclear Medicine is an advanced imaging technique that provides key insights into the functioning of your body’s organs and tissues. Unlike traditional imaging approaches, which primarily show the structure of your body, nuclear medicine focuses on the function and processes, offering a different perspective that can be important for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Nuclear medicine is valuable for its ability to provide precise, functional information that other imaging techniques might not reveal. Whether it’s evaluating blood flow to the heart, assessing the spread of cancer, or investigating the function of the thyroid gland, nuclear medicine offers a comprehensive look at how your body is working. This advanced technology supports your doctor in making informed decisions about your diagnosis and treatment, ensuring you receive the best possible care.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) combined with CT scanning provides detailed information about the body’s metabolic activity and anatomical structures. This medical imaging technique is frequently recommended by oncologists, as it can detect cancerous cells and monitor the effectiveness of treatments. PET/CT scans are also used in cardiology to assess heart function and in neurology to evaluate brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy. The combination of PET and CT technologies offers a comprehensive view, enhancing the accuracy of diagnoses and treatment planning.

An Amyloid PET/CT combines positron emission tomography (PET) with computed tomography (CT) technology to provide detailed images of your brain by analyzing your amyloid plaques – where early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive conditions may appear. Your physician may recommend an Amyloid PET/CT to capture a comprehensive assessment of plaque build-up in the brain. Monitoring changes in your plaques can be a strong indicator of early stage cognitive decline, and show positive progression of a variety of therapies.

Pylarify PSMA PET/CT is an advanced imaging technique designed to detect and monitor prostate cancer, even at low PSA levels. This innovative approach combines PET/CT imaging with Pylarify (18F-DCFPyL), providing unmatched accuracy in identifying and monitoring prostate cancer cells which would otherwise go unnoticed.

Angiography uses special dye in combination with another technique (MRI, CT, or X-ray) to visualize blood vessels and other parts of the vascular system. The images produced allow our radiologists to see the blood flow through your arteries and veins to identify signs of blockages, aneurysms, coronary artery disease, and other abnormalities.

Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry, or DEXA, uses low-dose X-rays to provide detailed images of your bones, usually the spine, hip, and wrist. This scan measures your bone mineral density and assesses your risk for osteoporosis or fractures. Early detection of low bone density allows for you and your doctor to manage any future risk by making lifestyle changes and starting proactive treatment plans..

A breast biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure designed to remove a small sample of breast tissue for pathology testing, to confirm the presence of any abnormalities. A breast biopsy can be performed in five distinct ways, depending on the location and prior imaging results. This procedure is performed by our board-certified, subspecialized radiologists who have undergone additional training in breast imaging. Their expertise ensures that you receive accurate and quick results, helping to guide your next steps in care.

A breast MRI uses advanced computer technology, magnetic fields, and radio waves to produce detailed images of the breast’s soft tissue. Unlike other breast imaging techniques such as mammography or breast ultrasound, breast MRIs capture deeper insights, making them an ideal diagnostic or additional screening option for women with high risk factors for breast cancer.

A breast ultrasound may be recommended by your doctor to evaluate areas of concerns found on a screening mammogram requiring further examination. Our board-certified, subspecialized radiologists use their expertise to interpret the ultrasound images accurately, ensuring you receive quick and precise results. Breast ultrasound is a non-invasive, safe, and effective approach for detecting and evaluating breast abnormalities, providing peace of mind and aiding in the early detection and treatment of breast conditions.

Digital X-ray technology captures images of the inside of the body using digital sensors instead of traditional photographic film. This method provides clearer images with less radiation exposure, making it safer for you. Digital X-rays are commonly used to detect fractures, infections, and abnormalities in bones and soft tissues. They are also commonly used for chest examinations, and detecting conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis. The quick processing time of digital X-rays allows for fast review by our radiologists to confirm a diagnosis by your doctor.

A low-dose CT lung screening is an advanced imaging technique that uses a lower amount of radiation compared to a standard CT, making it ideal for routine lung screenings and monitoring. By identifying lung cancer at an early stage, your doctor can develop a custom treatment plan, leading to better outcomes and improved quality of life.
