An Amyloid/PET CT is a type of imaging technique that combines Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) to detect amyloid plaques in the brain. Amyloid plaques are associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.
To prepare for your Amyloid Brain PET/CT, please follow these instructions below:
• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.
• You do not need to make any changes to your diet and may continue any current medications prior to your appointment.
• No specific clothing is required. We recommend loose-fitting clothing to keep yourself comfortable.
No, the Amyloid PET/CT scan is not painful. The only discomfort you might experience is a slight prick when the tracer is injected into your vein. During the scan itself, you will need to lie still on a table, but this is generally not uncomfortable.
Once your Amyloid PET/CT is complete, one of our board-certified, subspecialized radiologists will analyze the results and develop a detailed report for your physician. Your physician will receive the report within 48 hours and follow up with you to go over the results.
